The rate of killings in Ikorodu and its environs have reached
its peaks. Ikorodu and Epe in Lagos
State Nigeria where adjoined to be the most peaceful areas to live within Lagos
State has turn to a criminal zones where
criminals have a field days. Of recent, a lot of murders cases have been recorded and reported all over
Ikorodu, from Ibeshe to Owutu, Isawo, Igbogbo,
Offin, Imota, Aleke, Isiu and Agbowa areas. The reasons behind these killings are yet to be ascertained. Initially,
the killings was been reported among the cult members, but today, it has
graduated from that level to the killing of innocent citizens to small
children, husband and wife and most of the time, the killing of the whole
family. As at now , residence of Eruwen, Isiu, Aleke, Imota, Agbowa can no
longer sleep with two eyes close just because nobody want to be a victim. The
question is that, is it the way we are going to continue?.The Police on their
parts are doing everything practicable to calm down the rate of crime in this
areas, among the steps taken so far is
inauguration of Eminent peoples forum in various police formations and
divisions, collaboration with various security agencies including local
vigilante groups. As at now Police in Ikorodu have embarked on vehicular patrol
on 24hours bases including night foot patrol.
The situation of killings and murders in Ikorodu have gone
escalated to the extent that more that eight families have been wipe out and killed by yet unidentified men in this
areas, so far many residents in Eruwen Areas of Ikorodu, Aleke, Agbowa, Imota,
Ibeshe are all in panic and can no longer sleep with two eyes close because of
fear. Despite the fact that the police
in Ikorodu and its environs are making frantic efforts to stop and bring the perpetrators of this evil acts
to book, the communities who supposes to give useful information to the
police are not willing to do so despite
the facts that this evil people live among them, dine and wine with them.
The question now is do we continue in this way?. Do we allow a clique of people to hold Ikorodu to ransom?

Information gathered so far revealed that a lot of people living in these areas have stated moving out of Ikorodu to a safer areas.
